  • new.old photos

My cousins came to visit last week and one night when they came over to my house, they found something strange in my living room.  It was one of my recyclable outfits.  Being super confused, one of my cousins asked me what it was.  I dug up pictures of it and now I'm showing you too.  It's was my brown paper bag dress version 1.0

This is version 1.0...i thought i loved it, then i made these origami  flower things and i totally changed the bottom half of this outfit.....to the following...

This is version 2.0...many say that this one is better...

Here are also some pictures of the other outfits.  I finally got them from the photographer, who's great btw..

I don't want to destroy the magic in it all,but i'm going to tell you a little bit about this photo.  Rechele was a trooper by the way, because in order to get the water on her like that in the picture, she was standing inside of a plastic bin and the photographer's assistant and i stood on chairs and ladders to pour water on her from a pitcher.  It was super fun, and super halarious......

I also dug up some pictures from an out shoot that i did when I came up with the frist two outfits in my beta collection....

Not that Rechele doesn't wear it well, but this model Levka really made this outfit look good.....

Here is the newspaper dress worn for the very first time..........

Lastly, I wanted to show everyone an outfit that didn't make it into my beta line, but it makes a great holiday outfit......

I know i'm 5 months late or 7 months early, but MERRY CHRISTMAS....

{used wrapping paper}it actually is the wrapping paper that I recieved for christmas 08.

  • The Beta Collection.......

These are the first five experimental outfits that I have created.  There are more in the making, please enjoy and feedback is always welcome.

{Newspaper}La Times anyone? This dress was made from October 21, 2007's issue of the La Times.  This dress is held together with nothing but glue and is the first dress ever made in this collection.

{Brown Paper Bag} Too many paper bags were used in this dress to be counted.  This outfit was inspired by the art of Japanese paper folding known as origami.  Whole Foods and Trader Joe's bags were used in the making of this dress.  The bags were cut apart and folded into pinwheel-like shapes, then stringed together to form the perfect brown paper bag dress.

{water bottle} This outfit is made out of 72 Aquafina water bottles. The labels were ripped off the bottle and made into one continuous ribbon that wraps around the body from the bust to all the way down to the ankle.  The rest of the bottle was cut up and stringed together to form snowflake-like balls that wrap around the waist.

{Plastic trash bag} This dress is made out of Glad Trash Bags.  One large black Glad Force Flex trash bag was folded over and over to create a textured belt and another bag was braided into a choker around the neck which holds up the other 10 white bags that drape over to create the rest of the dress.

{Soda Can pop tabs} The top is made out of over 200 Soda Can pop tabs.  It took over 2 years to collect the tabs and around 10 hours to sew each one on individually.

About Me

  • The Simply Defined (Green) Project is an expression of my artistic abilities to promote the “GO GREEN” movement. Every American produces about 4.5 pounds of trash per day and 80% of it is all recyclable. The Simply Defined (GREEN) Project is how I choose to reuse and recycle these materials. With the exposure of my fashion and other products made from recyclables, I hope to raise awareness to this global movement to sustain the World’s environment. I know that it is quite impossible to change the world overnight, but I would like to make just enough contribution to encourage others to start a movement of their own. {angela du} : I like to believe that I've been creative all 21 years of my life, but unfortunately my parents say it started around the age of three when I accidentally sowed a pieced a fabric to the shirt I was wearing. All 4 feet 11 inches of me was grown in LA, California and no walking animal has made it to my dinner plate in two years.
